Heidi Klum and Seal, just like thousands of others on the verge of divorce, are facing many decisions and choices related to co-parenting ahead. Sharing parental responsibilities after divorce is usually of great value for the children. But it can also be enormously complex and challenging for parents. Here are six good reasons why:.

  •        Both parents are bringing the raw emotions resulting from the divorce into a new stage in their lives
  •        Heidi and Seal, or any Mom and Dad,  are also bringing previous baggage from the marriage – ongoing conflicts,  major disputes, differing styles of communication, unresolved issues and other frustrations —  into the mix as they negotiate a co-parenting plan
  •        Both parents are vying for the respect and love of the children – and are easily tempted to slant their parenting decisions in the direction that wins them popularity with the kids

Parenting Seminar Coming to Town

ALBERT LEA, Minn. — Sometimes children push parents buttons.

But dealing with that in a calm way is the aim of a parenting seminar coming to our area.

“Stop defiance, yelling and sibling fights” is designed to improve relationships between parents and their children.

Kirk martin and his son, Casey, will be the speakers.

Officials say they offer several tips to help parents deal with everyday struggles.

“He helps these everyday struggles, the morning routines, the homework, the going to bed, that’s what he helps people with the most,” Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Jill Johnson said. “And he has practical ideas to help with those everyday battles.”

The seminar will be held Thursday morning at the Brookside Education Center in Albert Lea from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 and is free of charge.
